Gates and Guardrails for NetSuite, Explained

NetSuite already protects the books. Gates and Guardrails adds the business control layer on top, built from your own rules and policies, so your team manages by exception.

What This Video Covers

In this short overview, Prolecto founder Marty Zigman explains Gates and Guardrails, a NetSuite-native rules and state engine. Records that meet your rules advance to the next state on their own. Those that don’t are held, show the reason on the record, and go to the person who owns them.

The same rules apply whether a person or an AI agent touches the record, which makes Gates and Guardrails a foundation for putting AI agents to work without giving up control. It is proven in production with 35 live customers, some processing more than 50,000 transactions a day.

How it works

  • Gates are the states a record moves through; guardrails are the business rules it must pass
  • Clean records advance automatically; exceptions are held in the owner’s queue
  • Each failed rule is shown on the record, with likely causes and next actions
  • Overrides are made by role and logged, whether from a person or an AI agent
  • Recurring exceptions feed back into process improvements
